It was inaugurated in its present provisional headquarters in February 1995 and exhibits a selection of objects that constitute a reflection of Torrevieja's historic roots, such as a display of handicrafts made of salt, a collection of photographs of the time. model boats, archaeological material, articles for fishing and navigation and others. Recently there has been the outstanding exhibition of a magnificent model and diorama of the Torrevieja sailing ship "Pascual Flores", the last of Torrevieja's ancient coastal shipping fleet that is now being restored at the Salt quay after being bought by Torrevieja town hall in the United Kingdom. |
This lies between the road CV-90, the main 4-332 coast road, the Calle Villa de Madrid and the ring-road, covering an area of twenty-se thousand square-metres and totally fenced-in. It is dedicated to the nations of Europe and it has a scale reproduction of the map of the European Continent.
One of the most outstanding features inside is a lake covering six thousand square metres, with six thousand cubic metres of water unfit for drinking, making good use of the special tertiary treatment at Torrevieja's water purifying plant. In it there are geese, ducks, ganders and three thousand coloured carp. The local Mediterranean vegetation is abundant. |
