El Barri Vell (the old quarter) is one of the city’s most symbolic areas.
Many of its streets are now pedestrian areas which allow one to have a pleasant and peaceful shopping trip. In this area the more traditional shops stand along side the more cosmopolitan ones: shops of the well-known national designers and others offering prestigious international brands, traditional jewellers with their own exclusive designs, furniture and decoration, and avant-garde interior design. There are craft and antique shops with the oldest, most original and curious objects. And for the most demanding palates, there are establishments with exquisite delicacies and cellars with select wines.
