| Gerona is situated in north east
Spain and is close to the border with Spain. Gerona is also not far from
Barcelona (about an hour in a car hire from Gerona) and was subsequently
strategically important. Gerona has been fought over on many occasions over
the years and its diversity is reflected in its architecture and culture.
Gerona is a beautiful city with a great atmosphere. The Gothic Cathedral
is well worth a visit and it has one of the longest naves in the world
.The Arab Baths were built in the late 12th century and are fascinating.
There is also the Museum del Cinema and The Salvador Dali Museum, in the
nearby town of Figueres which are well worth a visit. To the East of Gerona
is the Costa Brava on the Mediterranean Sea, which boasts dramatic coastline
scenery, sheltered coves and excellent beaches. It is a firm favourite
with European tourists and has resorts such as Estartit, Platja de Pais,
Tossa de Mar, Pineda and Calella de la Costa.
Gerona Airport is about 12 kilometres from Gerona and this journey is
relatively easy. Gerona Airport is used by tourists on their way to The
Costa Brava and also by visitors to Barcelona because you can rent
a car in the airport. It is possible to get good value flights to
Gerona Airport.Car hire Gerona Airport will allow you to get to
Barcelona in about an hour. Car hire from Gerona Airport - if you
